Creating Art

Art is everywhere and plays an important part in our spiritual journey. God is concerned with the detail, quality, and beauty of what we each do in our home, church, and job. Whether it’s cooking, painting, writing, gardening, or singing, He’s given each of us ability to create, imagine, explore, and dream. As I grow, the Lord has been encouraging me to look at life through the eyes of an artist. When we take this step, we will be able to: 1. Completely identify with having a creative God who made us in His image and discover...

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace

No matter where I’m at in my spiritual journey, I’m learning I will always need reminders of God’s amazing grace and His unfailing love. Serious health concerns among family members, important plans cancelled from the snow, and expensive household repairs were all unpleasant surprises for me this past month. I confess. I sometimes didn’t handle my frustration in a healthy, mature way. When I decided to listen to God’s voice during my disappointments, He brought to my attention a beautiful song called “Amazing Grace” which I...

Healing through Creative Expression

Healing through Creative Expression

While hanging up artwork in an elementary school, my mother suddenly lost her balance and fell off a utility cart. This terrible accident which occurred in 2002 resulted in a serious head injury that developed into Grand-mal seizures. Over the years, my mother suffered from short-term memory loss, the inability to hear in one ear, and balance and perception issues. Despite her physical limitations, she chose to remain obedient to God’s call in developing her creative gifts to serve others. I loved watching my mother find joy in teaching...

Serving our King

Serving our King

Writing articles for my church’s newsletter has rewarded me with a great deal of joy. Each month I have the special privilege of highlighting what God’s doing in various ministries and getting to know many wonderful pastors, leaders, and volunteers who have a passion to serve. As these individuals choose to pursue God’s beautiful dream for their lives, I’m always amazed at how He continues to use them in a powerful way to provide the emotional, spiritual, financial, and physical needs of others. Witnessing numerous men, women,...

Finding Rest

Finding Rest

When the world around us feels like it’s falling apart, I’m so thankful we can find rest and comfort in the arms of our Savior. Rest is essential along our journey towards growing both emotionally and spiritually. It gives us the strength and perseverance needed to continue carrying out what we were called to do. This month my family and I traveled to a cabin in the Poconos. I admit the idea of being in the middle of the woods for a weekend terrified me at first. However, I knew my husband and two precious children were looking...

Noticing God’s Fingerprints

Every day I am amazed at how God makes a lasting impression. Through observing the splendor of His creation or watching how He’s dramatically changed a person’s life, I’m so thankful we can find His fingerprints everywhere. As I grow, the Lord is bringing to my attention more and more people who have witnessed His creative hands move and have stepped out in faith to share their testimony with others. Whether it’s through a phone call, online message, video, or book, I greatly admire a person’s choice to recognize and record God’s...

Letting our Light Shine

Letting our Light Shine

Watching children develop a passion for the visual and performing arts is truly wonderful. Witnessing them obey the Lord, use their gifts to glorify Him, and be able to shine like stars in the sky brings me even greater joy. This month I was extremely honored to have a manager in New York recognize my 8-year-old daughter’s love for singing and acting. After a significant amount of prayer and research, we decided to sign the contract. As my daughter begins this new adventure and she continues to work hard to develop her skills, I’ve...

Molding into God’s Masterpiece

Molding into God’s Masterpiece

This month I felt led to speak a message of encouragement through a brief video.  My husband and I enjoyed creating this movie and we hope that it will inspire you to grow! “But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our Potter; we are all the work of your hand”   (Isaiah 64:8). “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms”           (1 Peter 4:10). What steps are you taking to mold into God’s masterpiece?...

Holding on to God’s Promises

Holding on to God’s Promises

Watching someone firmly hold on to God’s promises in the midst of hardship can be a powerful, life-changing experience.   I’m often inspired to grow in my faith when I observe others trying to trust God and His Word in all circumstances. One special woman and her testimony will always stand out clearly in my mind.  She endured a painful miscarriage and two long years of trying to conceive.  Yet, with the support of her husband and many believers, she made the choice to stand firm in God’s promises and not falter in her faith.  There...

Pursuing Dreams

Pursuing Dreams

I’m thankful for a remarkable Creator who designed us to imagine, hope, and pursue a vision.  Life can feel wonderful and exciting when we believe we are on the path towards fulfilling a dream. As I commit to the process of growing, I’m learning the importance of surrounding ourselves with people who desire to give us Spirit-led wisdom, support, and counsel as we respond to the dreams that were placed on our hearts.   Prayer and encouragement from other believers helps us maintain a passion for God, embrace our calling, and learn how we...
